Tired of feeling lost in coding workshops... like you are the only one who just doesn’t get it? In this class, you are free to ask questions, and you gain a comfort level with your coding knowledge. This workshop will have interactive coding activities and REAL home care examples designed to increase your confidence and skill level. Principles of Coding will include the current PPS Rule as it relates to coding. The home health Registered Nurse and other clinicians will learn essential coding guidelines for a home care professional. A fundamental comprehension of coding is necessary for all home care staff. Since coding directly effects reimbursement and the coding rules changes twice every year this workshop will increase the attendee's competence in home health practice.

Objectives:

• Describe the 3 volumes in the coding manual
• Identify coding guidelines and conventions
• Explain combination coding in home care
• Describe late effects coding
• Identify OASIS questions related to diagnosis and/payment in home care
• Compare manifestation and multiple coding
• Describe the relationship between coding and NRS
• Discuss the importance of tables
• Evaluate the Grouper logic impact on coding
• Describe the impact of the 2011 final rule on coding

  * 6 HCS-D hours (with a maximum of 10- HCS-D hours for attending both days)

Requirements for Successful Completion of Activity the participant must:
