Analyze OASIS: Utilize Logic and Authoritative Guidance to Evaluate Quality and Case Mix Accuracy

The home health Registered Nurse and other clinical/non-clinical staff involved in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities will evaluate the challenges presented to home health agencies in auditing OASIS data collection. The attendee will gain a more comprehensive understanding of outcome and process measures. In this workshop, attendees will be given guidance and tools useful for assessing accuracy and logic during a detailed discussion of the OASIS items which contribute to quality measurement and case mix calculations.

Objectives:

• Define two types of quality measurement in home care
• Describe the purpose of Outcome Based Quality Improvement (OBQI), Outcome Based Quality Monitoring (OBQM), and Process Based Quality Monitoring (PBQM) manuals
• Identify current guidance for those OASIS items which contribute to calculation of outcome measures, process measures, and case mix calculations
• Describe effective audit strategies, including logical consistency between items

Target Audience: QAPI Personnel, Supervisory Clinicians
